Sensors & Transducers Journal (ISSN 1726-5479) is a peer review international journal published monthly online by International Frequency Sensor Association (IFSA). Available in electronic and CD-ROM. Abstract: Stannic oxide thin films activated by palladium were prepared by sol-gel method. The morphology of the layers and the size of the particles were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Investigations showed that the number of coating, annealing procedure and the viscosity of the sol, affect structure and thickness of the layers. These different preparing conditions result in different change in resistivity of the samples toward methane gas. In addition to these parameters, the Pd/Sn atomic ratio in the sol is another effective factor on sensitivity of methane.

Improving Gas Sensing Properties of Tin Oxide Nanowires Palladium-Coated Using a Low Cost Technique
Thin films of SnO2 nanowires were successfully prepared by using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process on quartz substrates. Afterwards, a thin layer of palladium (Pd) as a catalyst was coated on top of nanowires. For the deposition of Pd, a simple and low cost technique of spray pyrolysis was employed, which caused an intensive enhancement on the sensing response of fabricated sensors...
متن کاملSelectivity of Catalytically Modified Tin Dioxide to CO and NH3 Gas Mixtures
This paper is aimed at selectivity investigation of gas sensors, based on chemically modified nanocrystalline tin dioxide in the detection of CO and ammonia mixtures in air. Sol-gel prepared tin dioxide was modified by palladium and ruthenium oxides clusters via an impregnation technique. Sensing behavior to CO, NH3 and their mixtures in air was studied by in situ resistance measurements. Using...
متن کاملStrong metal–support interaction as activity requirement of palladium-supported tin oxide sol–gel catalyst for water denitration
Two nanocrystalline palladium-supported tin oxide catalysts for water denitration were synthesized by a modified sol–gel technique using appropriate chloride precursors for both support and active phases, and citric acid to tune the rate of hydrolysis and condensation. The difference among sample preparation procedures refers to the moment of the noble metal loading to the support, as well as t...
متن کاملSynthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanostructured Thin Film by Sol- Gel Method and Evaluation of Gas Sensing Properties
Ethanol (C2H6O) sensitivity of zinc oxide (ZnO) thin film has been studied in present work. Semiconductor thin films of zinc oxide (ZnO) were deposited onto alkali-free glass substrates by the sol–gel method and dip-coating technique. The ZnO sol was synthesized by dissolving zinc acetate dehydrate in ethanol, and then adding Tetra ethanol-amine. The as-coated films were preheated at 150 ºC fo...
